Tsuchinoko "Legendary Snake" From Japan

Tsuchinoko (ツチノコ?) Is an animal that is reported in Japan but have never been proven (cryptid). Shaped like a snake but paunchy like a bottle or bowling pin with a small tail like a rat tail. These animals are reported to have "seen" an eyewitness at various places in Japan, except in Hokkaido and the Ryukyu Islands. Up to now, has never been successfully arrested Tsuchinoko Japanese society because witnesses were afraid, or first animal to escape.
The name "Tsuchinoko" comes from the local name for the "animal" according to residents Kansai area (Kyoto, Mie, Nara, and Shikoku). In the Kanto area, residents refer to it as bachihebi. Some local governments in Japan offer a large amount of prize money for the people of Japan who caught Tsuchinoko. Prize money of 100 million yen had offered the city of Itoigawa, Niigata Prefecture.
Eyewitnesses who claimed to have "seen" Tsuchinoko reported physical and behavioral characteristics as follows:
  • Compared with ordinary snake, the belly a little bit fat
  • Can be jump up to about 1 meter
  • Like a drink of sake
  • Can be voiced "Chii"
  • Moving very quickly
  • How to move like a caterpillar or roll away, biting the tail and spun like a wheel
  • From the mouth spitting fire
History
The tools of stone shaped like a snake that Tsuchinoko found from the Jomon Period archaeological sites in Hida, Gifu Prefecture. Images similar Tsuchinoko also found on the outside of the urn-shaped pottery from archaeological sites in Nagano Prefecture. Tsuchinoko described as the god of pastures in the classic Kojiki literature written in the 8th century. In the encyclopedia Wakan Sansai Zue Edo origin, written in an article titled Tsuchinoko Nozuchihebi (野 槌 蛇?, Snakes hammer fields).

There are three different opinions on how to move Tsuchinoko:
1. Tsuchinoko runs with tail biting and then spinning her roll her body

 
2. Tsuchinoko runs like a caterpillar
 
3. Tsuchinoko walked by shaking her body to the left and right

A reasonable explanation
Most likely, Japanese society is only one view only. Stomach snake who just swallowed a large-sized prey will grow like the figure Tsuchinoko witness reported. In addition, similar Tsuchinoko lizard genus Tiliqua coming into Japan as pets since around the 1970s. The lizards have small feet and almost invisible, so that can be mistaken amidst lush as Tsuchinoko.
